| Freedom
of Information Act (FOIA) 2000
The
Freedom of Information Act 2000 aims to promote greater openness
and accountability across the public sector by:
Ensuring
the general public has the right of access to all information
held by schools
Requiring
all schools to publish information which is held proactively
through the adoption of "publication schemes" and
to publish information in line with the scheme.
In brief, a publication scheme:
- Is
a guide to the types of information made available to the
public.
- Commits
schools to making information available.
- Has
been formally adopted by the governing body.
