Pupils at all Key Stages
are encouraged to participate fully in the language learning
process through various activities and events. Assistant's
are employed for pupils to experience authentic native speakers
of French / Spanish. The Internet is used as a vital link
with French / Spanish “collegians”.
Welsh
Pupils
are exposed to the Welsh language at every step of their school
career. Excellent use of Welsh language programmes, from S4C
for example, is evident in classes and the department has
also arranged a tour around the television studios. Visits
to the cinema to see the latest Welsh language releases are
organised regularly. The Welsh Department has created particularly
strong links with the Urdd organisation and many pupils visit
its activity centres at Llangrannog and at Glan Llyn. Guest
speakers are invited to talk with pupils. To raise awareness
of Welsh history and culture, on St Davids Day, there was
a cross curricular theme of Wales and the Welsh for all lessons.
We eagerly anticipate the Annual St Davids Day Eisteddfod.
The Welsh Department ahs established firm links with Ysgol
