Physical Education Faculty

The Physical Education Faculty provides every opportunity for pupils to achieve their full potential in a broad range of activities.

In Years 7 to 9 (KS3), pupils take part in Rugby, Football, Basketball, Hockey, Netball, Swimming, Athletics, Tennis, Criket, Dance, Gymnastics and Health Related Fitness, where full participation is required in all activities. During Years 10 and 11 (KS4), pupils are able to add Badminton, Bowls, Volleyball and Aerobics to the list and they can then choose to specialise in a few areas to achieve higher standards.

For those pupils who wish to follow a career in a sport related occupation, there are opportunities provided to study GCSE Physical Education in Years 10 and 11; with a further opportunity in Year 12 and 13 to study AS / A Level.

Extra curricular provision for pupils at Maesteg School is excellent. Pupils are given the opportunity to represent the school in a wide range of activities. The school enters Local, County and National competitions in Rugby, Football, Hockey, Netball, Cross Country, Basketball, Athletics, Tennis and Cricket.
