School Policies

The School has many policies in place, we have selected a few and provided a precis of those we felt relevant for this site, should you require more information please contact us.

Complaints

We value the good relations we enjoy with parents and the Community. Any concerns expressed by parents or others about the school curriculum and related matters should be considered in discussion with the Headteacher and staff in the first instance. Where complaints cannot be resolved to the satisfaction of the complainant, the matter can be referred to the Complaints Officer of the LEA. The guidelines for parental complaint procedures can be obtained from:

School Policy on Charging

When activities take place totally outside the school day, parents will be expected to contribute towards the cost of the activity. When the activity occurs partly or wholly within the school day, parents in some instances may be requested to make a donation towards the cost of the activity. If insufficient donations are received, it may be necessary to cancel the activity.

If the pupils entered for an examination fail to complete the component of the course or fail to sit the examination (other than a medical reason), parents will be expected to pay the entry fee for the examination.

Equal Opportunities

We want all our pupils to have the opportunity to maximise their potential. Each pupil is of equal value and has equal access to the curriculum and all ‘benefits, facilities or services’ offered by the school. At Maesteg School we pride ourselves on knowing and supporting every student.

At Maesteg School we attach great importance to educating about equal opportunities. The school curriculum covers issues of equality relating to disability, gender and race, and challenges prejudice and stereotyping in schools and in the wider community. We foster a culture where diversity is valued and equality of opportunity is a reality.
